Painting wheels. Duplicolor wheel paint
Been working on my new wheels for the Nata, but Im thinking of doing the same process to the wifes 2014 Outlander wheels. They are pretty cool looking factory wheels, but I'd like to have them in Black. Anyway, The Sonata wheels are the same as the OS and the Big O, so If you like the looks of them get a pair. These are 19s but they could go on the Big O, tires are just a bit short. lol.
Started out but scraping the clear coat with a razor blade in a few spots that were starting to flake, then I dulled the finish with a scotchbrite pad, used some purple power degreaser and then dawn soap to clean the wheels.
It took a while to tape them off, but for the $300 I spent on 19s and almost new tires,,,,, it was time well spent for a custom look. Anyway, I did a "light" coat of adhesion promoter, then 2 more good coats. Waited 30 min. then I did the same thing with the high performance wheel coating. After 1 extra coat, I waited 10min and then misted the Sonic Blue Pearl. I got it a bit darker than intended which turned out great. I waited 30min and then misted the clear. 10min between each coat, and gave it 3 good wet coats. The center caps where getting faded, so I shot them with black and then gave them the carbon fiber treatment. I call the color Blue Steel. enjoy, and then get busy on your own project.
