Converting front wheel drive into All wheel drive

i was wondering if it was possible to convert a front wheel drive 2001 mitsubishi lancer into an all wheel drive like the Evolution series.

don't bother... you could buy a whole new car w/ the $$$$ it would cost... if you really need AWD pick up an 00 impreza or something along those lines.

It is possible, but it's not worth it unless you've got some major plans for your Lancer

I was thinkign about it you can piuck up a evolution drivtrain for about 10,000 then plan to spend abouit 6 months and 10,000 making it work and hopefully you got hookups on free machine work !

its just not worth the time i rather buy a evo9 and wait or a sti and strat with more power then all that work !

Are you talking about a base lancer? 120 HP pushing 4 wheels. Please try it cause I'd like to see it. After drivetrain loss you'll have about 80 to the wheels, maybe. I've seen evo's for $25,000 usd. Which is about what you'd spend on the conversion.

for the cost of tranfering it u might as well buy an evo

anyone been under an outlander yet? given a fuel cell, how big is the rear axle? the engine bay looks very similar to ours. havnt check out the tranny tho, but i wouldnt be the best judge anyway.

I just returned an Outlander I rented for 6 days. I never even thought to look under it, I was too busy looking in the engine bay for spare parts.
