The stuff I ordered came in the mail today. Now I've got my prototyping board out and small parts and bits of wire scattered across the table.

If I can get it to light up an LED at the push of a button, keep it lit until I push the button again, then shut it off and stay off, we're in business.

It works. It's not quite right yet, but it does work. Starts out with the light off every time. Push the button, the light comes on. Push again, light goes off.

For the moment, there's a bit of a minimum lag time between button pushing. I need to order some 1µf and .01µf capacitors and some NPN transistors to make the lag go away.

I'm hoping to fit it all in a 1"x2"x3" box with 4 wires sticking out. Power, ground, relay, and button.

I'll keep you all updated.

hell yeah man, excellent job. you gonna sell these or at least sell the idea to a vendor? I won't buy one becuase the fog lights will eventually be deleted on my car but I am sure some people will.

Once I get one assembled, installed, and have it working in my car for a while, I might sell them for whatever the cost of materials is plus a little for my time.

The electronics in it are inexpensive, it's the board it's soldered to and the box it's in that add up fast. The electronics are probably $2. With the board and box, it's up around $12-15.

Not only that, but to use the stock button on the dash.

Well, I got the parts I needed today, and built the circuit on a board and put it in a box. I'll install it tomorrow and test it for a while. I hooked it up to a relay I had around and it turns the relay on and off just fine. Just gotta find the right wires to connect to...

WOOOOT!!!

If it works, are you gonna share the circuit design with us??? I don't know enough about electronics to design my own circuit... but I can build an already designed circuit for sure. Was this expensive to build? I would think it isn't... but who knows, maybe you have to had some state of the art capacitors imported from Korea...

Keep us posted!

So Myszkewicz, how did it go??? Please tell me it works... or at least that you didn't fry half of the electronics on your car.

I can't wait to have this working on my car... I want the first one of these boxes (unless you are willing to share the design with us ).

I either need a more powerful transistor or a small relay inside the box to control the relay for the fogs. I didn't fry anything in my car, but I fried one of the transistors in the box. Haven't quite got around to replacing the transistor and adding the relay yet.

I'll see if I can draw up the circuit in photoshop or something.
