I would say do the adjustment as explained in the service manual I posted. It's the proper way.

So for those up here in Canada, whats the gap? 0.20mm/0.30mm? The manual that Thomar posted says 0.11mm/0.22mm cold, and to check again after warmed up...but nothing about the 0.20mm/0.30mm...

You guys need to read the title of the pages on the service manual. One says On Vehicle service, the other says Engine Overhaul.

See post #72 for the proper procedure for valve lash adjustment. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/10052067-post72.html
See post #74 for the proper procedure to adjust initial valve lash following an engine overhaul. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/10052100-post74.html

Yeah, that was my bad. I tend to skim quickly and not read every word right down to the copyright crap. Lol

Well I did my valve lash adjustment with cold engine and then check it with hot engine. I took my time to do it and the results were that all valves were almost perfect.

So that means that I will keep doing it in cold state engine. Also searching the net I found plenty of information saying that the measurements with cold engine they already have in consideration the thermal expansion.

I don't know if i was lucky but it worked perfect for me

If, and when, one of you guys does the valve lash adjustments, could you post pics or embed a vid please? Myszkewicz had pics up, but that was 7 years ago... I want/need to start learning more about how to maintain my car and reading can only help so much. I'm more of a visual learner.

Thanks in advance, much appreciated.

Valve Lash RECAP

So just got done today with the valve lash. I unfortunately did not mark my underdrive pulley so finding TDC was a bit of a big one( you know what i mean). Anyways, my buddy and I took about 3 hours since it was our first time. I did .20 intake and .30 exhaust and let me tell you with the breather mods I have it is awesome. You can really hear the intake suck and it is sooooo much quieter. Best $23.00 I ever spent. DIY all the way.I have a couple before and after videos so stay tuned.....

.20 and .30? you sure you don't mean .020 and .030? lol, but even 20 and 30 thousandths is pretty big, that like a spark plug gap...
