Power window regulator and/ or motor

Tonight when I was pullin into my garage, I was rollin down my passenger side window and I saw that it rattled when going down (not up mind you). Its like it is struggling to go down..just after reaching the half way point.

At first I thought it was the motor but then I thought "well the power window motor works..problem is that it rattles..." .. After doing some research online (saw a video on you tube on how power windows work)..I learned about a window regulator...my question is:

1) how do I know for sure if its a window regulator or the power motor?
2) Any body here have any tips on removing the door panel and checking the regulator?
3) can i remove the glass window and if so is it hard to put back in place?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...(I tried the search function but found very little info on windows here ...)

well mine have always rolled up or down regular speed....in fact I press both the drivers and the passengers when I used to smoke inside my car, both had the same speed and now I have this issue.....
