Just curious guys,

I can get a good deal on an Evo 8 Wing, however, is the CF that comes with the real wing from Mitsubishi real or fake? I'd like to know prior to buying it for my cuz.

whats faux cf..... The oem evo 8 wing is full cf even under the paint its a good quality unit

 

ok here we go again, if your were offerd $450 painted and installed, then it's FAKE!! and made of abs plastic with "look-a-like" carbon fibre, if they said $1800 for the wing installed then this is the real deal, cuz that's what they cost from the dealer in Canada, and they come already painted from Mitsu

 

No mitsu dealer in canada would stock a OEM wing, when 1st off their no evo's in canada, 2nd cost is tripple the price compare to aftermarket,

 

Just because it is cheap doesn't mean it's not real carbon fiber. I got my wing for $225 and had it painted and installed for $75 and its real carbon fiber but its not an oem evo wing.

ok well think what you want but i will 100% guaranty that the wing you have is not the real one that comes OEM on the Evo, and it's not real carbon fibre, there is no way in hell that the dealer would sell a real full carbon fibre wing for $250, the one you have has a "Look-a-Like" printed patern on the center section. So yes they will say it is a "real" wing in actual fact it's a cheap imitation of the real thing, cause like Ralliart67 said no dealer will stock these wings, since they would never sell them unless you have money to burn. I agree for $250,$450 or $500 is a good buy for that wing installed, but if you really want the "Authentic" look then there is nothing like the real thing.

Here are some of the ways to see the difference between the real and fake, here are picutures of mine:

Real Carbon fibre has a very high gloss, you will see the fibre through the clear coat:



And also the Real wing will Have Rivets int the center of the side supports, the others will have them at the edges and they are screws,not rivets

 

There are aftermarket real CF Evo VIII wings available new for under $500, but the ones I've seen only have the center as real CF, and the side pieces are fiberglass or ABS, so still not as good as the real thing.

 

i have never seen the ones you are talking about? must be fairly new, cause the only ones i have seen is the cheap ones and the real ones

 

also to add what modernracer says, the part numbre on the OEM one is engraved on the bottom of the wing where it bolts to the trunk thats one way you can tell if you have the real deal or not, also on the RA's you have to drill holes to make it fit, The one i have is the EVO9 OEM wing, and it was pricey, over 2600 for the wing- paint and modify the trunk for install, and the center piece does not detach from the sides, its all one piece, soild..Don't think i'm knocking the aftermarket one cause i'm not, every one has their own personal tastes and of course buget's

 

i got a full cf evo VIII wing off of ebay for about 300, but cuz it came to canada there was a 100 brokerage fee from stupid ups.

i did end up getting the sides painted to match
