Post Removing your Badges

To remove the badges from your car you'll need...

-Floss
-Goo gone
-Hair dryer

It's really easy. All you need to do is take a hair dryer and heat up the badge for aprox. 2-5 minutes until the badge is nice and hot. Then you take the floss and carefully wedge it between the badge and the adhesive tape. Go back and fourth with the floss and use the Goo gone to get the adhesive tape to come off easier.

You don't really need a hair dryer but It's alot easier if you have it.

Here's a picture of the rear of my car without the "Lancer" and the "Ralliart" badges.

Hope this helps some.

Any idea how it would work on black? Will there be any shadowing or residue or anything else that shows where you took them off? Is there any possible negative effect of the Goo Gone to the paint? I want to do this to my black Sportback but don't want it to look crappy afterward.

You could do what I did, ask the factory to debadge it when they did my paint protection. Although, its probably a little too late for you to do that eh?

Yes, I didn't take any of the protection packages and have had the car a couple of weeks anyway. I may get brave and try it out one of these days.

the paint will be fine. I took off ALL the run-around striping in my 1987 Trans Am back a few years ago, and used a whole bottle of Goo Gone, no issues.

I am taking off just the Ralliart emblem today. It is all about being a sleeper. Sometime soon someone is going to get destroyed by my regular Lancer!!...HAHAHAHA! That and I think the colors of that emblem dont mesh well on my black car with the rest of the emblems in chrome.

I took mine off of thunder gray and got no shadows or anything. I just used a hairdryer and didn't even need floss. If you can get them off while they are relatively new and the foam/tape didn't dry up and stick to the paint as much you should just be able to pull it off by hand. But as long as you take your time you shouldn't see any problems removing them from a black car.

no, it will probably just take a lot of goo gone and some good waxing....but if the paint is faded it might look funny. Wax may also clear up any wierd spots if the paint is faded though.
