You had to buy a new motor ?
You would want to get one from kineticmotorsport.com they are in Canada.
You won't find one cheaper anywhere else. You could try and have it rebiult but it still could come out at the same as a new one.

This is really weird, but it doesn't surprise me with the cold weather you guys get. Did this problem actually destroy your engine or was it something else?

I would think that with such cold weather the base tune from California wouldn't be a wise idea, not only that but type of oil also would come into play. Isn't boost really affected by the tempature also ?

Definitely, we don't get nearly as cold in Toronto as they do in Alberta and you can still see the turbo has to struggle to push air. They get something like -50 c. I don't know what that is in Fahrenheit, but it's damn cold.

I'm guessing that aftermarket turbo manufacturers/vendors do not life-test their products at the extreme winter temperatures mid-western Canada and USA experiences. So why take chances? Considering the money and time and love spent on your Mitsu, why not pick up an AWD eight year old Subaru Impreza for $4k and put snow tires on it - those things are bulletproof and live to 400,000 km and plow through anything. Store the Mitsu from December to May, even under a tarp on the driveway is alright. Your turboed Mitsu avoids salt and corrosion and extreme operating temperatures and gets less mileage on it. Beat the s**t out of the Sube - it's actually fun to drive in snowstorms. I did this and it's totally worth it. When springtime comes you can't wait - the Mitsu feels new again.
