A few questions about RRM turbo kit.

Hi guys, I have a few questions about the RRM turbo kit, starting with:

a) What's the overall opinion of the owners of this kit?
b) At how many rpm does the turbo spool?
c) What upgrades are available for this kit?
d) How many psi will the stock engine hold on?
e) Can I use 87 octane gas or do I need 92?

Thanks guys

A) My overall opinion of this kit is summed up in the first sentence i said when i first drove my boosted ralliart. "holy F*cking Sh*t did i just roach my tires in third gear" Its fast. hugely faster than the stock setup.

B) Its a small turbo so the RPM will spool up pretty soon. in 4th-5th gear, at low rpms, the lag is there. but 1st-3rd gears, almost no lag at all, it starts to spool up as soon as you give it a decent amount of gas. its not "full throttle full boost" it needs to build up to the first few psi. as all turbo's. small turbo so it spools up in low rpms nicely

C) What upgrades are available to this kit??? well the cam, intake manifold, head, all this stuff is compatible with the kit. but direct upgrades to this turbo "kit" is basically just the fuel setup. Contact rob (rock) at road race and he can give you more infomatin. Basically he'll give you a larger 5th fuel injector, a new fuel map, and you can up the boost. from its stock 7, to anywhere from 10-13. i was at 13. pulled strong.

D) Which leads us to question D. the stock motor can handle about 12-13 psi on a safely daily driving tune. When i blew my motor, the boost gauge read 16-17ish before it poped. so i want to say anything over 14psi is red zone. 17 is just bad. BUT IT ALL DEPENDS ON YOUR TUNE. i cant stress that enough.

E) dont run 87 octane. you need 92+ for the turbo. on any turbo car you should run that.

F) and F you didnt ask this, but i will tell you..... BUY A BOOST GAUGE.

What's the sizing pipe of the RRM turbo kit downpipe? And what size do you recommend for piping with the turbo, 3"?

With the AC on I think Brent's downpipe was 2" or maybe 2.25" at the very top (not much space to pass by the AC compressor). Same as the outlet of the turbo. His car was able to put down over 250whp on just a base tune. Still haven't gotten all the issues ironed out to complete the tune and post dyno sheets. After the elbow it went up to 2.5". That's about all you need for 400-500whp.

you will have to use a standalone or get your ecu re-flashed. We have tried at least 4 piggybacks and although one is close its not 100% (the car still went into limp mode in closed loop) Hackish has been developing a reflash for turbo and NA applications. Where my map is tuned the car is a friggin beast.....
