Cars with intercoolers but no turbo?

I've now seen a several different cars running intercoolers but with out forced induction. Do you think this is just for looks or would it be like having the ultimate cool air intake?

I dunno man. I've heard some people tossing in one of those intercoolers AND one of those electronic "BOV's" and getting some HUGE gains....HAHAHAHAHAHA

What kinds of cars are you seeing them on? They could be front mount oil coolers... doubtful, but it is a possibility. They could also be a second, and/or larger and brighter radiator

There are indeed some companies who sell aftermarket radiators. These things are of no use whatsoever on a stock engine though... People who buy them have heavily modified engines that generate much more eat. The aftermarket radiators are bigger and use better materials to dissipate heat faster.

But I'd say there's a good chance what you saw is some poser who thinks an I/C looks cool on his completely stock ride...

I've seen them on poping up civics, a Neon (not the turbo one) amond others. I was just wondering if I was missing something. If it was like a good alturnate to a cool air intake or if posers were all getting the same idea.

So in essence, they sell a CAI that looks like a I/C???

You know what, I don't like the fact that it looks like an I/C when it's not... but I like the concept of the front mounted CAI though. I wonder if it could work better than a convemtional CAI?

If someone made something like this (but did not pretend to create anything that looks like an I/C), I would be very interested in knowing what the numbers are...

LMFAO!!! You don't want that Joe...

I don't understand those front mount CAI's... Wouldn't you absorb the heat anyway when you have the air travelling from the front through the engine bay!?!?!?

Well, since it should be mounted in front of the radiator, it should get the coldest air available. Since it's a bit higher from the road, it should even (theoretically) get a bit colder air than in the wheel well...
