RoadRace LSD: Current LSD Owners, please help !
I just have a few of quick questions in regards to the RRM/Quaife LSD....as I think I am going to order one next week.
1) Does the LSD ship from RRM with the Diff bearings and Speedo Gear already installed ? or do we re-use our current ones (bearings + gear) if possible ?
2) Are the bearings and speedo gear Mitsubishi parts specific to our cars ? or are they Quaife parts ? as I saw the unit has a lifetime warranty and no maintenance required......but what about when it needs bearings...do they come from Quaife or Mitsubishi ?
3) What kind of time do most shops quote to do the installation, on average ?
4) Can anyone in Canada share a little insight as to what 'extra' they were required to pay for brokerage/duty etc for the unit NOT including the initial RRM cost + shipping charges.
Thanks in advance.

u need to buy the parts... they are mitsubishi parts, cuz when RRM shipped them to me they were wrapped up in there lil plastic w/ the lame sticker on it that says mitsu motors on it.... but the guys at RRM will ship them to u along w/ the LSD.
installation is a *****... u need to split the tranny to pur the LSD in... lot of work
WELL WORTH IT THO... car sticks to the road like glue. best thing i did to the car other than my turbo . u'll love it

Are they the same bearings and speedo gear that are in the factory diff ? So if I needed to order them, I could get them based on my vehicle ? as opposed to what diff I was running ?
Got any part numbers ?

and in order to source the parts necessary your self it would be best to call them and talk to them about it. I am sure if you are planning on buying it from them, and maybe even if you're not, they will be more than happy to explain what you need and where to get it.

I actually just ordered........
I hate to say it, but I found a local distro for $1400 CDN + $80 CDN ( about $1360 USD) for bearings + speedo gear.
So $1480 might sound like alot....but if you have to worry about an additional $500-$600 in shipping/taxes/exchange/duty/brokerage etc........you can understand why I went this way.
The Diff is as such:
- Quaife Part# 76.309.180 (Eclipse 2WD 2000-05, For transmission F5M42)
- Bearings are THE SAME for RA + Eclipse
- Speedo Gears - Eclipse is a 29 tooth, RA is a 30 tooth.
Each gear is only $20, so I will order BOTH just incase.
I called Quaife directly......and this is the application.
I talked to Mitu and they cross-referenced the bearings and gear for me, as well as an interchange that my mechanic buddy told me about.
I paid my $1000 deposit and it's on it's way.

ps. I should also add that the deal I got may be based on the fact that I bought the LSD, a carbon VIS Hood and Stage 3 Clutch all on the same invoice.....you other's prices may vary a little in Canada by as much as 10% on the unit itself.

awesome, what does that convert to in USD?*** it will give us a better idea on the cost for sourcing this direct over in the states as you have done in CAN. Thanks for the part numbers, you are the first to post the quaife #'s IIRC, I didn't think we would ever find that tidbit of info out. Let us know that it's all good in the hood when you complete the install, you da guineapig...I mean you da man
***or I can look myself 1330USD, so what's that - 30 more than RRM? sounds like you saved some money

It is about $1360 USD total......and that's landed here including shipping etc.
I figure I saved about $500-$600 CDN on the Dollar Exchange, Brokerage, Import Fees and other taxes and stuff by getting it locally, in Canada....actually, in my City as well
Don't get me wrong. The money saved was NOT from RRM.....it was money saved from the Canadian Govt and UPS.....lol

19'd, again, just in case.
btw, not just for the Canadian guys, I am sure someone will find the quaife for cheaper than RRM, otherwise why is RRM selling it? I'm pretty sure they aren't getting a bulk discount from the factory, so they are marking it up (as they should) and that means someone (maybe me ) can find it for what RRM is getting if for anyway, it's only logical.
