I Just replaced my shifter in my glx with a ralliart short one including ralliart knob , now i feel a better control on tranny but i experience hard shifting , so what do u think guys it needs some cleanup with WD40 and some oil or that is normal?? , see this pic , I also replaced the old carbon fiber trim with an 06 ralliart silver one + ralliart gauges ,Thanks to ralliart

Its normal . Shifting gets significantly harder whenever you install a short shifter. At least in every car i've driven.

when I instaled a shortshifter it didnt get harder, made it smoother. Maybe you need to re-grease the pivit points

Try regreasing the pivot points. I litterally clean and regrease them once every 6 months, along with the ones under the hood.. which reminds me to do them soon.

I didn't grease them up , i think greasing the pivot points will fix it cause the car i took the shifter from came from the states to egypt overseas so the car wasn't used for along time

Like most people have said, when you install a short shifter, make sure the pivot points are greased up. If you still have the "notchy" feel which is the perfect way I'd describe it...

DONT WORRY.

This is normal and this is perfectly fine when having a short shifter. Sometimes you have to push the gears in a wee bit harder than usual. I know from 5>3 you have to do a certain motion for the gear to go in smoothly, my experience anyway. If you go ask your local mechanic, they'll more than likely let you know the same thing. Oh, and shifting the gear from side to side may even be reduced to none

NORMAL, same here with my short shifter, on the RA, and on the HONDAS

You get less shifter travel between gears, but it also make the shifter harder, no problem with it.

Make sure you didn't screw in the supports for the shifter too too tight. Grease the pivot points a ton, and make sure you grease your underhood linkage bushings. Those underhoods are what was making mine so notchy. Hope that helps.

ya just to chime in as well - I recently installed the authority short throw shifter (honestly didn't notice too much of a reduction in throws, but hey it was $50.00). I also installed the shifter-base bushings and used *very little* grease on it. The pivot cups are nice and greased but otherwise, I like the really mechanical feel of the shifter now. The "klunkiness" for me helps me confirm that it is, or isn't in gear. I like the very noticeable feel of the gear engagement, and others who have driven my car really dig the feel too. Plus, I'm a total dork, so I get to smile to myself about it because I know it was an intentional feel as opposed to a happy accident.

Going OT for a moment, I may replace the authority short throw shifter with something shorter in the future. I would have purchased the RPW shifter (it sounds like exactly the type of setup I wanted) if any of the american RPW distributors would reply to emails, but I couldn't reach anyone. Anyone have any other suggestions about the short throw shifters they have used or are using?
