Also, I did not see a Silkolene Product that meets the 30 weight Spec for the EVO.. But it was just a quick look around..

Well, after 24 years with AMSOIL, I am passionate about the product. Although, If I did find a better product, I'd sell it instead.

Let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

Does our tranny take 75W85 or 75W90? Or are they basically the same. I just put Redline MT90 and it is 75W90. It feels great so far.

Doing this from memory... I do believe 80W-90 is the correct lube, so 75W-90 will be fine.

Thanks Doc. I will probably hitting you up in the next little while about purchasing some oil. I have run Redline before but have no reservations about giving Amsoil a try. Plus you sell yourself and your product well. Thanks for the reply.

I read that most of the evo drivers here use 5w30 or 10w30, in the UK most of the evo drivers use 5w40, like silkolene pro s. What are your views on the 5w40 in a evo engine Oil Doc????

The 5W-40 is a commonly Spec'd oil for many Mercedes, Porsche, Saab, Volvo and VW engines so it is readily available.

The EVO is Spec'd for a 30 wgt oil here in the USA and I doubt if Spec'd different anywhere else. As long as you are staying with a Synthetic, a good Synthetic, not something like Castrol, the only issue will be dragging off a little HP and Fuel Mileage. A rule of thumb with a Synthetic is that you can jump 1 Viscosity range over recommended.

Use of a 40 weight may be recommended if you are using the vehicle for any type of Endurance runs as well. Usually, when I talk to people, if they say they track the car, I will ask them about how long they are on the track before recommending an oil. Of course, when a car is raced at any time, "All Bets Are Off" for any product used and the vehicle Warranty is voided immediately.

It is quite surprising that among Drivers of Sport "Tuner Type" cars, where it is an overwhelming younger crowd, that they think "Out of The Box" in so many areas of their lives but not engine oils and fluids as they stick to the antique thought of "Thicker is Better". Where, with a Turbo'd engine, it can be quite the opposite.
