RRM only port the engine side of the IM, so you can only use the stock RA throttle, But you can port the inlet (throttle side of the IM) to suit the Eclipse 3.8L throttle body

Bumping an old thread to add an update.

Just installed my 3.8L Eclipse throttle body and so far so good. Let the car idle for about 10 mins and watched it closely. Didn't die or bog down so I took it for a spin around the block and all is good. Didn't go over 5k though, so tomorrow morning I'll take it out again and see what happens.

this may be a dumb question but what about the inlet side of the TB? like where your intake connects up..would there be a problem or difference there? like i have a CAI and isnt the size of the piping of the intake based on the 60mm size of the TB? and there theres the question of would we be able to go with a bigger sized intake pipe?

I'm sure if you really wanted to you could, but there is no need for it. Rather you should spend the money on a new gasket (3.8l eclipse tb gasket) and port the intake manifold. Stretching the intake pipe or replacing is all together won't do much (I'm sure it could do something), but you are never in the situation of filling the pipe with so much air that it would become a restriction.

As for an update (didn't see your Sept 6th post). I haven't had an issues so far and just before 4k it screams. Throttle response is great and you can feel a difference in pull.

ive been talking to some guys over on the club4g.org forum and this is what we discussed...here

im confused then, why was there all the talk of "needing" to port the IM's inlet side to match? when yours is on there without the IM ported and its working fine...
