MAF adapter
Am in the middle of putting together my own intake system for my car, but am having a bit of a problem when it comes to the Maf sensor. The solution for most people seems to be a Maf adapter. Am having a little problem understanding how this works? From what I understand these Maf adapters basically screw on the piping with the Maf sensor in place of the stock air box then you would attach whatever filter/pipe you like to the adapter opening.
But when I look into my car it look as if the pipe with the Maf sensor is attached to the stock air box, am I missing something? How can this Maf adapter work then?
I've read in the DIY section that someone else had to cut the pipe off the air box. Is that something I have to do or is there some other way that I haven't read about?
I have a 2004 Lancer Ralliart
Any advice would help....

all you need is a MAF adapter that has an interior diameter of i believe 2.25in? I'm not exactly sure on the measurement but it has to be a precise diameter to now throw codes. after you get the right adapter you can throw on whatever filter at the end of it that you want and it'll be fine.
EDIT: looked at some older posts. the MAF adapter has to have 2.5 tubing in order to get correct readings and not throw a code

need to finish up a few things, got the wrong size fitting for the vacuum line, just but a breather in its place, seems to have no ill effect, but so far so good... no check engine light.. planning on building a heat shield to surround the filter...
