CrAnSwIcK's 4G69 Build: Phase 3

so yeah...i didn't plan on doing on doing this, but i couldn't pass this up when i heard about it through a friend, so i guess i'll start collecting parts for a built block...

i said this for phase 2 which took a little over a year initially, and is still ongoing, but really don't expect frequent updates in this one...

Eagle H-Beam...$150 shipped

same way I got a Quaife LSD for $350...keep your eyes and ears open, and capitalize on other people's misfortune, free-time constraints, money issues, blown motors, collisions etc...my friend found these puppies on the ECM link forums...oddly enough the seller owns a 4G69 Lancer...I got my friend to link him here, maybe he'll chime in one of these days and see his rods get put to good use some day. Even for used rods, that will need re-bushing it was a great deal.

a lot of people buy things for their cars, can't afford them, don't use them, or just don't have the time...

For the rods...it's too easy, probably the easiest part to acquire for the 4g69, as 7-bolt 4G63 rods are the same from 1995-2007 so there are a lot more dsm's and evo's around being built, than lancer ralliarts and 4g eclipses, i'm not limited to 4G69 owners to get rods for a good price

The eagle rods are shorter than stock right? What do you think about the eagle rods and the weisico pistons for an n/a build?

you will want high compression...at least 11:1 or you'd be wasting money...

Would the shorter rods cause lower compression?

Shorter rods with stock pistons means lower compression. Compression is all about squishing the air between the piston and the head. Pistons with less of a dish shape can do that. The smaller you can squish the pocket of air and fuel in your cylinders the higher your compression ratio will be.

yeah, wrist pin to crown height is important for fitting in the block, but a shallower dish will increase compression ratio...it's the ratio of displacement at bottom dead center to top dead center...
