drenth gearbox development

I been in contact with the owner of drenth-gearbox.com. trying to develope a flat shift gearbox (no lift to shift) with an lsd. And it work with our factory ecu. We have just started working this project and will take some time to completely work out all the bugs. We expect this gear to handle 600+ who and depending on supporting engine mods we can get our 0-60 close to 2.8 seconds that's with a fully built engine. Tranny will also have a scatter plate for those who run faster than 12's.

Do you mean 2.8 60ft time drag racing or 0-60 MPH? Because 0-60 MPH in 2.8 seconds in a front wheel drive Ralliart isn't going to happen.

yeah i was thinking the same thing, but a 2.8 60ft is pretty slow, so i'm not sure what the deal with that is.

No 0-60 in 2.8 is Gunna be possible with this gearbox cause of the gearing. I'm wondering if we make the final drive gear longer to increase top speed.

2.8? lol...on a lancer....the power you would need for that is beyond a basic turbo build.

Exactly. Like I said it's Gunna be possible with supporting engine mods. The cost to develope this is running me around 30,000 USD. I'll be keeping you guys posted about our progress.

Nope not joking. With your engine built to the best you can get it. It will be possible to do 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. It will be doable. If your engine isn't fully built like pushing close to 400hp you won't be able to. Just common sense but the gears that will be going into it will allow you to depending on motor setup. Right now the gearbox and gears are being drawn up on a cad machine. When it's all said and done. We will work on other gear sets that you can specify what gears you want in the gearbox. A lot of time and money is going into this for you guys. No one has been working on a aftermarket box sense the car has came out so I think it's due time for someone to break the ice and give this car what it's meant to be. Yalls support will be great in developing this box. Any ideas Yall think would benefit our cars will help me understand what direction this should go.

The car is meant to be a FWD economy compact sedan, there's a reason you can straight up buy Shep's dog box gear set for the Evolution for $10,000...I can't speak for everyone of course, but I really don't think this is a good investment, when you can buy an Evo, build the motor, upgrade the turbo and transmission, and run 700whp for less than $30k...plus a lot of people run 400+whp on stock transmissions...

So you're spending more than it'd cost to make an evo that fast, to make a fwd car that fast, while still keeping that fwd performance architecture. Although it sounds like a huge waste, you never know. It could surprise physics altogether and be one hell of a mean machine.

I say if you have that kind of money to throw around, why the **** do you drive a FWD lancer?

also I don't think there would be many people interested in it...like you put $30k down, once it's developed, what is a consumer like myself looking at for cost? if it's even close to to the cost of Shep's dog box, it's a huge waste of money, and only morons would buy it...I'm not trying to be a dick here, and I hate the "just buy an Evo" attitude as much as the next guy, but lines need to be drawn somewhere, and I'm just trying to keep it real.

for the cost of Shep's gearbox, you can almost buy an Evo...which with some used injectors and a $40 boost controller can make 350whp no problem, with zero modifications.

well gee, that video was real informative for my RA ... how can you guys be selling this idea to RA owners when our platform is totally inappropriate for such a gearbox/LSD?
