Sexy car is now blemished, help!

I need some opinions from all you body guys. A fella backed into me at work and pushed in my front passenger door. 2 shops say replace door at $1030 or so. Another shop said that he can replace just the skin for $649. I've been told that a skin will always look like it's been repaired. Also told by another body guy that the $649 will get me ripped off. I want the whole door, just because, but I need some all weather Pirellis 'cause I think it's going to snow here this winter.

Nothing internally in the door is messed up, at least that I can tell. Window goes down and up same as always (no noise or anything), and door locks work fine. The prices include paint blending.

Help!

Yea bash on the guy who hit you... If you let him get away with it this time, he'll just do the same thing and think everything will be fine the next time. Teach him a lesson, anyways he hit you why should you have to pay for it...

Replace the whole door, and make "captain back-in" pay for it. Reskins do look funny if not done perfectly.

Junk yard it.

Get a color matched door from a wrecking yard, use the $$$ for tires & wheels.

His insurance will have to cut you a check.

What are the chances of finding a wrecked Ralliart, let alone one having a good door that color matches :P

ha ha, seriously... at the junkyards around where I live you can't find anything newer than a '92 anything. And most of those are Nissan/Honda/Toyota.

The silver is the same color as the OZ, those have been out since 02.

Probably get a full door with glass for @$200.

Its at least worth a shot.

His insurance for sure will pay it. I should see the adjuster in the next couple days. I was more cncerned about it looking good till I dent a side! lol

So if reskins look funny if not perfect, then I'm better off getting the new, or used complete door. I was just hoping to get by a little cheaper and put the rest back into it.

The idea about the salvage yard is good, think $300 would buy one? Would $300 cover the paint? Switching the guts would take me 2 weeks, 'cause I'm so mechanical. But if it saves me money to use towards my new habit, I'm probably gonna do it. That would just about cover the tires.

thanks Tim
