Might I add that the Auto Enginuity program lets you see if you will pass emissions testing and which sensors are reading trouble spots. You can clear the engine codes and stuff with it to pass emissions before a test. Thats good if you come from a state were testing is necessary. You can also configure the sampling rates of the sensors and get dyno graph's, etc..

Just to add to this: On the PC end, USB connections are always hot-swapable so there should be no problem with those. Serial would be a little more tricky. If you plug or unplug the cable with the program running, it might hang while it waits for the next data set to come through.
And BTW, a USB cable can be used on any USB port on the PC and the program will still be able to access the OBD-II port...

its only an OBD2 reader. hence, it only reads varialbe that are part of the ODB2 standard. MAP is one of the variable, so in a way, it can read boost pressure in the manifold. an evo may have a stock boost sensor tied into the ecu. if so, it will report on this. a 3rd party boost controller may not support this.
for a list of sensors supported, see this: http://www.obd2crazy.com/techstd.html#acro
for a list of error codes, try this one: http://www.obdiicsu.com/Docs/DTC/DTCData.html
if u get a reader, try to look for one that follows the standards. there is lots of free software out that that works with any standard reader. it will give u the freedom to choose what works well with u, and to use more than one piece of software as needed =)
