Under warranty if:

-not due to abusive driving
-clutch is under 20,000Km (Canada) i'm not sure what the mileage for US is, I would imagine aroud 12K miles?

Are you sure? Our 1st gear is so short, I think it'd be hard to tell that it's slipping. Take the car up to about 15mph, put it in 5th, and floor it. That'll tell you if it's slipping or not. The 05's haven't been out long enough yet to have slipping clutches, unless it's been abused.

Actually, the clutch isn't under factory warranty. The clutch is considered a part that fades like brake pads as time goes on and Mitsu says that clutch slipping is caused by "driver error". My clutch went out at 5,000 miles but you gotta remember that I learned on my car. Mitsu didn't know that and I still had to pay for the new clutch. Sorry man, you're going to have to pay.

Under a certain extent is that true, the parts should still be garaunteed for a certain time period. If my clutch started to slip already I'd be pissed, but I only have 5000miles on it

True....Evo clutches are notorious for failure. If you ever get an Evo and plan on modding ANYTHING......replace the clutch with at least a double plate.
A friend of mine with an Evo even managed to tear up an Exedy triple plate carbon fiber clutch too.....but that was an install issue (only 1 plate was engaging I think was the issue....don't quote me I am not for sure). Took him awhile to figure that out.

Knock on wood.....I have had pretty decent luck thus far with the Mitsu clutches, but have heard many horror stories on different models (lancers, evos and eclipses).
