No, it's mostly because people can buy it for 16K$ when they shop around a bit... an because it's a known fact that a new car will loose 20% (okay, maybe only 15%) of it's value once it leaves the lot. If you don't like that part of the deal, buy used.

Where did you get a quote for your car? Did you check the black book value on it? I don't think this is a realistic number...

It's mostly a difference of whether you want that new car w/ 0% (if you're lucky) or a used car at cheaper price, but with whatever interest rate you can get... The choice can be difficult!

i tried trading in my evo with SSL...it costed me around 33k with taxes... and the dealer quoted me $21000 at first for the trade in and my evo only had 6000 miles at that time!!! ....then after some talk...they raised it to $25000....good convincing can do magic...but then when i went to do the paper work... the car i was trading in for... 06 eclipse...costed 4 grands more..???... it costed more than an evo SSL brand new...i guess they just shifted the price over and tried to screw me over..i walked out

Paid $14.9k new for mine... you guys need to learn how to buy a car. I talked to a guy who bought an 04 at 26k at the SAME dealership as I bought mine. You gotta learn how to wait to make big purchases and play the whole thing out using your brain. As for depreciation value, I don't know what to say... if I were planning on selling my RA right after buying I surely would be less likely to get a Mitsu from the get-go.
