On a road trip to CO last year, I had the cruise set at 85, and could almost watch the needle drop, especially on the lower half of the gauge. I was lucky to get 250 miles before stopping again for gas. If I keep it under 70 (did it once, just to see ), I get 31.5 mpg, roughly 380 miles on a tank without danger of running out.

You could always trade it in for an auto! That's the only plus side to the auto, my MIVEC doesn't kick in until 84mph. Other than that the auto pretty much sucks, but what the wife says is gonna happen, usually happens. I try to look at the bright side, an auto RA is better than no RA!

I drive from minneapolis to Indianapolis once a year, last year was the first year with the lancer and I hit 31 mpg going just a hair under 70. Around town I say out of MIVEC as much as possible and get 22-23 mpg (sh!tty winter blend) and about 25-26 mpg in the summer.

At just under 75 mph I will get 29 - 30 mpg on long highway stretches (300 miles +/-). At 80 – 85 mph drop it down 3 – 4 mpg. Maybe for some of us it may be how fast you get to 75 or how many times you down shift into 3rd or 4th to pass more then the fact of driving 75. I know around town I don't even want to figure out my mpg, when you go from stop light to stop light driving the car the way it was engineered. The fact is we all have these cars to have some fun and driving it this way it drops the gas mileage, this is no different then any other car I’ve owned.

I have a big problem with a heavy foot and during daily driving never get better than 23mpg. Never really got much better than 26 on the highway.

Definitely seems to significantly more kick with higher octane fuel too, more noticable than other cars i've had. i always ran mine on premium, its not THAT much more a litre, but i came back from my nine day stint on the mine and the other half had been running it on regular, with in a kilometre i asked 'have you been filling this with regular??? Its cheaper in the long run, especially noticable on long trips

Ain't that the truth. If I babied my GSX, I could get 25mpg out of it. Doing 1/4 mile runs while tuning, I got 7mpg.

hey, quick question here, how much gas is left in the tank when the light comes up? I've been always driving with near empty tanks, so I try to make best judgemenst when it comes to shifting at higher rpms, lol. and also, cruise control. Does it help in highway driving as far as mpg? or it depends???
