Totally a warranty thing, go back to your dealer and abuse them - tell them you whether they think it won't cause any harm or not is irrelevant - you paid for a perfectly working car, and it isn't. Its a tiny job so its not like they are replacing something major and expensive. Its not functioning properly so how can they guaranty it will continue to do so?
Its a part covered by warranty not working as it should and its part of the cooling system and therefore very important. Replace free pronto.
