Can you hear the Mivec Switchover?

MIVEC is dependant on oil pressure. Take it from someone who has stripped the car down, and converted from 1.6 to 2.4 - Oil pressure determines MIVEC switch - I got mine to not swtich at all by adding an oil cooler, which messed up the system pressure. I have an LED wired to the Mivec control valve, which lights up when the switch takes place. It swtiches at 3500rpm. But if your oil pressure is wrong - it will switch later.
If you car engages MIVEC at 4500rpm - your oil pressure is not correct, as its meant to swtich at 3500rpm.

Just google the new Mitsubishi lancers or search the threads. Tons of info.
Try this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_4B_engine or just google "Mitsubishi 4B11 engine" or something.

05YRA, mivec didn't kick in "hard".
He was in 1st gear, and was turning, so he baby'd the corner to minimize wheel spin. Then he hit the accelerator at 3500rpm (give or take), and chirp'd it into second. I can see why you thought he had an aggressive switch-over.
Nice find though
