First mod

I have an automatic 05 ralliart and I'm going to buy my first aftermarket performance mod, I'm going to get a muffler I just have no idea which would be the best for a good deep quality sound, I really don't want my car sounding like a weedwacker. I was looking at this
<a href="http://www.sportcompactonly.com/Exhaust/Performance/part_c-26_pl-2564_p-6153.htm">
Skunk 2 exhaust</a>
but im really not sure, so any suggestions would be great. thanks

I am a huge fan of Borla, which has a really deep tone and it's not too loud. I think you're definately making the right first mod decision, so good luck.

Magnaflow is another good choice. Many people on here have part #14829, street series muffler, its built well, fits nicely and has a nice tone.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions, I was looking at a vid of the Magnaflow #14829 on a 2006 Ralliart( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEjLw3WFX0E)and he said something in the comments about it having to "break" in, what in the hell does that mean? Did he just not install it right?because it sounds raspy on the ralliart but it sounds good in this video on a lexis sc400(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESsh2IXAbkw)

the video of the lexus is not a 4 cylinder. It's really hard to found a nice 4 cylinder sound, most of the time it sounds too raspy.

A Mitsu exhaust...it's no specific brand. Like I said, if you're looking for something that has great tone, go with Borla. It also requires a break-in period, meaning that you may initially be disappointed. I first thought I wasted my money on my cat-back for my Evo when I first bought it. The performance gain was incredible, but the sound was weak. After about two weeks, it sounded amazing and made me realize I made the right choice. They also guarantee their product for 100,000 miles.

you also have to remember that the engine itself provides a lot of what you hear coming out of the exhaust as well...thats why cars like G35's and 350Z's with nothing but exhaust sytems sound sick. you can have a great exhaust but with no power it wont sound good

Ive never heard a Skunk 2 exhaust on a Ralliart, since Skunk 2 is mainly used for Honda parts. If you can afford it, I would go with Greddy Evo 2 or HKS Highpower. Alot of ralliart owners go with RRM (Magnaflow), but im personally not a fan of this exhaust.

You can view my sig for a video of my Evo 2

That's because the Lexus SC400 is run by (if im not mistaken) the 3.0L - inline 6, 2JZ-GE which is the non turbo Supra motor.

Your not gonna get that same type of sound out of our 4 cyclinder. Also 4 cyclinder will have a "raspy" sound due to the engine noise output and exhaust quality. You can make your ralliart non-raspy easy, just buy a quality exhaust system or if you go custom make sure the job is damn near perfect.

I'm definitely pleased with my magnaflow. I heard my own car come around the corner for the first time the other day (friend driving it), and WOW. Not too loud, nice and deep, but you could still tell there was a beast right around the corner. haha
