Its a shame the Evo wishbones dont work well, but this is one of the pitfalls of researching things that havent been done before. I know that the Evo wishbone swap had been done before and that had been found, but researching can only tell you that things will BOLT UP, not that they will work!
There were a couple times during the engine swap we had to customise because things bolted in place, but cables or other things didnt reach them or things like that.
I will probably still install my wishbones, so that I can see if there are any custom mods that could be done. I also had the choice of modifying my wheel arch lining as I have an aftermarket front bumper. Id like to see for myself the problems and actually use my own eyes on it to see if I can do anything to make them work for my application. That could involve fabricating a strong adapter bracket so the tie rods are more threaded on, moving my wheel arch lining forward. And regarding the axle being close to the Tensioner, I would have though the Evo's axles would therefore do the same thing as the engine is mounted in the same way.
Alternatively, I'll sell my Evo arms and just weld up the stock arms more or something! I wish we knew why the stock arms have a tendancy to randomly snap!
