rpm going up
Well my problem is when i'm in drive and on the break say at a light, my car starts to rev. The rpm goes up by itself and accelerates, i've brought it to the dealership so may times and they can't figure out what is going on. Does anyone know what is going on or have any experience with this happening? The car is a 2004 automatic ralliart. Thanks guys

Weird... cause something just like that happened to me recently... only i was on the road going around 40 on neutral, my foot was off the gas pedal.. Sounds like a ghost story haha but my RPMs went up to around 6000-7000 and after a second or so the RPMs went back down.. i also had the cruise control on before that and didn't turn it off when i went neutral (maybe that could be the reason?) i don't know, but that never happened before and after that day.

yeah, if you pull the car out of gear with CC engaged it will still try to maintain speed. the brake and clutch have cutoff switches on them, but if you don't use either they won't work.

It's an auto, guys Anyways, I'd be checking for vacuum leaks. Second, I would test the accel. pedal position sensor to make sure it's sending out a correct, constant signal. Also, search around the base Lancer forums. I recall reading that many of the automatics (including the 08s) there have had the issue, as well.

Mine does it when the MAF needs cleaning, when U dont let the ECU learn itself properly when reseting( by disconection of battery) , sometimes does it when the the A/C is on. clean the "TPS" with electronics cleaner, sometimes it gets dirty
