Mine's been doing this recently too when I'm under the hood looking at something but I haven't had the issue of it staying on when the car is off though... maybe I'm just being paranoid....

I guess it was listed as being in stock when it wasn't. Would have been nice to know that before hand.
Cool, thanks for posting that link, I'll check it out depending on what I hear from the dealer regarding replacement and price

So I finally got the part yesterday (2 week shipping, cool...), installed it today and washed my car. Everythings running as usual and the fan stops when the engine is turned off.

Install was easy and straightforward, although it reminded me that I really need to clean my engine bay. The only strange thing that happened was that my engine temp gauge was off for a minute or two while driving, but once the fan kicked on the gauge began to function normally, and has been ever since.

I disconnected the negative battery terminal before touching anything as well.

Nice so it came with install instructions? If I can avoid the dealer or a shop all together, would be ideal

I'm going to try and rememebrto call the dealer for their price tomorrow, otherwise I will buy from that site, the noise is really annoying and now that summer is around the corner....it will suck

Hey guys, I've been a long time lurker for quite some time now and this is my first post. I drive a yellow 04 RA. I too have this problem. Called my local dealer today, and was quoted $216.00 after tax and install. They don't call them the stealership for nothing!

So yeah, I'm interested too on the install procedure. Doesn't sound too difficult and it is the much preferred approach. I'd rather spend the time and save the money.

I'm having trouble finding it and the poster above on this page purchased it from a certain web site but hasn't heard anything back from them.

Thanks in advance!

Install takes 5 minutes... Pull the two plugs out from the bottom, and undo the two bolts holding it down. Do the reverse to install it. Remember to unplug your battery.

ahh you guys.. maybe I'll pull a how to on it this weekend for kicks. I'll be working on the galant and documenting it. I'll try to remember... Honestly the job is legit a 5 minute task. I think the hardest part is waiting for your engine to cool (damned fan controller gets HOT) or unplugging your battery and having to reset your radio stations...

Yeah the install is a no brainer guys... Unplug battery, unplug the three cables connected to the unit, unscrew the two screws holding it on, then reverse.

The total cost of the part from Autocenter.net was $76 including shipping.

this just started happening to me, most of the time its fine, usually happens after i fang it a little but then even when i let the car cool a little by driving normally and its really cold outside the fan comes on and off and stay on for 10 secs after to turn her off :S

is it bad if i dont replace the controller straight away or is the main part of replacing it to fix the noise issue?

Its best to replace it as soon as possible, because after a while it will only get worse, and you'll run the risk of the radiator fan not turning on at all when the engine needs it.

It took about a month for my replacement control unit to come in because autocenter.net had to order it from a mitsu dealership in washington.

Just try to keep an eye on the temp gauged and make sure it doesn't start getting higher than normal, if it does then turn the car off and let it sit and cool down.

Well I'm glad I saw this post. I've been having the same problem now for about the last month. I'm unhappy to say I just purchased the part, but in the overall scheme of things I guess it could have been worse. Thanks everyone.

update for me: still running loud everynow and then, seems to be getting worse, tho the temp guage stays in the middle(good running temp), well get a new part soon.

just a quick question, people that have replaced it, have you had to replace it again/will we have to replace it again in the near future, coz even tho the car is 3 years old i only have ~35000kms on the clock
