Need Help! 9007 to H7 HID Projectors
This is a slightly modified copy of the email I sent to the store I purchased my HID kit from... Hope someone can help me with this!
So after playing around with my car, we found out the the day time light that is initially on when you start the car is hooked up in series, therefore each light (left and right side) has only 6V each. When turning on the night lights, it switching to parallel, giving each light (left and right side) 12V... However, the light still flickers and after about 30 seconds it turns off completely for both day time/night time lights...
Here is the set up below:
This picture is my default power socket from my car:

This is the wire that comes out of the projector casing to power the daytime lights, and the projectors (yes 3 pins)

Since my car is originally 9007 I have to make a temporary connection between my car's power socket, and the head of my projectors:

(from left to right wire colours are red, black, white... Next picture shows it better)
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=nf0axi&s=5
Now... From the ghetto 3 pins of my H7 head (picture 2) only 2 of those go DIRECTLY to the H7 bulb... This picture shows the side that connects directly to the H7 bulb:
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=qovair&s=5
The white and black wire goes to the H1 or H11 (daytime/highbeams)
SO... by connecting the red and black wire of the ballast that I purchased to the sockets above (that is supposed to originally go to the H7 bulb) and connecting every other sockets and plugs from the ballast correctly... I get flickering lights as described in the first part.
Projector Picture:

Middle light with the right is the projector (H7) and farthest right is my daytimes/highbeam (H1 or H11, forget), the ring around the projector are the halos (doesn't matter in this case)
My daytime lights are either H1 or H11 (I forgot to double check), but it is also the highbeam lights... Originally when I turn on my highbeams, my H7 lights would turn off, and the only light on is the highbeams (H1 or H11). Therefore if I disconnect my daytime lights.. I will also lose my highbeams. HOWEVER, I tried this and still, the HIDs flicker... This is due to my car being connected in series (for daytime), then parallel (at night), but even when its connected parallel for the nightlights, the HIDs do not work properly. We connected the ballast (red and black wire) directly to the battery and it works fine. No idea where the voltage drop is coming from..

Do the HIDs flicker and shut off when powered directly from the battery?
Could you power the HIDs from a relay activated by the parking lights and just use the factory signal to switch between high and low beams? Wired correctly, you'd have the HIDs on all the time that your parking lights were on, and high beams only when those were selected.

oh im getting relays soon, the ballasts are working fine because i tried hooking them up directly to the battery and they work.. i figured it out, the DRL on the newer models only give like 6.5 or 6V which isnt enough for the ballasts, causing the flickering

WIth this car and any canbus system you really have to do your homework. I have a great supplier bit pricey but a direct install and the HI/LO work just great........have them for 2 years and no probs.
