New Rotors...or new Brakes

Apparently, my rotors are warped to all hell, so I need to replace them. Should I just go the extra mile and all new brakes? I always see, people with the red brake pads underneath their rims. Are these special in any way? Who makes a decent set of brakes for not a ton of money? I'm not racing or anything, but I just want ones that i won't have to replace anytime soon!

According to this article, there is no such thing as a warped rotor;
http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...rakedisk.shtml

very interesting read, also, breaking in your new pads and rotors are important. same website explains how to do it.

but yea, if you're stepping on the brake and the steering wheel shakes like crazy, i'd just replace the brakes and pads.

I dont remember the website that sells rotors and pads for a good price, but I'm sure Otter will :P

Rotors can have parallelism which is what people consider as warpage. High and low spots in the rotor caused by sticking caliper slide pins, sticking caliper piston, not having the proper shims installed or even no shims at all etc. You can get new rotors but also what is the run out of the rotor and parallelism on it? Do you feel a pulsation in the pedal when braking?

Those are red brake calipers, not brake pads. You can buy them or paint the ones you have.

As for Rotors and pads, R1 Concepts has an excellent selection and great prices. I've had them on my car for 40k miles.

hey thanks, these are pretty cheap! Would these be able to be used with a 2004 Ralliart?
for the front

and for the back?

I don't wanna spend the money on these guys and turns out I bought them for the wrong car! Anyway I'm assuming it's alright to mix brake rotors with different brake pads? Cause I want to get those rotors linked above along with these brake pads:
http://www.autoaccessoriesgarage.com...itle=&selSort=

Sine I don't know too much about cars, I'm assuming i can just give them to my mechanic and tell him to put them on for me. Would that be all I need? I figured I'd change the rotors and pads all at once, and It'll cost me less than 300 bucks, which isn't too bad. Would this work?

I got slotted front and rear rotors from R1 which were pretty good from normal and slightly spirited driving but after continuous weekend tracking mine "warped" after a little more than a year. For the price they are good but If your looking for something that's going to last long and can handle stress I'd suggest other. I'm going to go with RRM's big rotor kit which comes with Axxis Delux pads, info, once I get my Rota's.

On my eclipse my rotors were rusted really bad on the backside, when I thought they were warped. I spent 130 on new Powerslot slotted fronts and 65 on Hawk HPS brake pads. I highly recommend the Hawk HPS. Very good for the price. They're ceramic.
