2005 ralliart knock or thumping noise from rear driver side panel

So I bought my car about three weeks ago, 05 with 5 speed manual 229k in km, original owner. When i m driving over small cracks or slightly during at 30 km I hear the noise, when i m slow its fine? Anybody know what could be the issue? Also any problems with the cat I should be aware of? Thanks

I had issues with mine the bushing on the upper control arms get weak over time. Jack the car up under the rear rocker and do a simple wiggle test, side to side and up and down like you are checking for a bad ball joint, you should have no movement if you do it will be easy to find.

Tech tip at least once a year you should remove and use anti seize in any bolts that are sleeved, basically all bolts through a rubber bushing. All of mine were seized last time i went for an alignment, major pain in the butt all had to be cut off and replaced.

you're almost due for a third timing belt...hopefully it's not the original one in there, or it's a ticking time bomb (inspect it ASAP). change the transmission oil. And check the whole suspension and steering system for worn parts...balljoints and bushings like ottralliart05 said, also tie rod ends...

The timing belt was done at 207k and I have papers for it. I'm a student and I have exams so once they are over I will take it to a local shop

clutch release bearing (throwout bearing), input shaft bearing, or transmission backlash...when you push the clutch pedal, the noise goes away right?

brakes aren't an issue, they'll squeal quite loud when you hit the wear clips...if those are not there, then you'll know when you've run out of pad, lol.

Same. Mine was missing the bottom bolt amd it rattled at idle.

Also if the thumping in the rear mainly happens when you hit bumps or cracks id check the sway bar end links. Had mine break once and the the bar or the links would tap over bumps.

I finally decided to make an account here, nice to see another Calgary Ralliart. I'm not sure what the knocking noise may be but I've got something similar on mine but coming from the front drivers side. I had my mechanic look at it but he didn't see anything worth replacing at the moment and as it was only making the knock sporadically we decided to wait and see if gets any worse before spending any money on it.

I guess that doesn't really help you very much other than the knowledge that these cars are apparently prone to this sort of knocking noise (I've noticed a few old threads on the issue). Provide an update if you find out what the problem is.
