Factory tint legal?
Ok, in the eternal search for a car I've been told by the people at last dealership I went to that although it's illegal to have ANY tint on the front side windows, that you can get around it with they're "privacy tint", a very light tint, b/c it's "from the factory"...now I'm not so concerned about it here in the city b/c ppl all over the place have tinted fronts, but I often visit family/friends in Lloydminster where a RCMP can be dicks...one night a friend got pulled over in his old bmw 318 is for what he thought was racing or speeding, but turned out to be for his tint...
as well, I figure if I get it in writing from mitsu that it is indeed factory that might help if I ever was pulled over, but any ideas as to if this would be any kind of defense in court?

The law is the law and no factory letter will get you out of a ticket if it is illegal. If you see a cop... lower the front window and he will never know!

factory tints ARE legal aren't they? how can a cop ticket that? if they do, they're f*cked in the head thinking you can send your car back to the factory to get the tints removed..that means thousands of other people would have to send their cars back also. practically all the luxury cars out there have factory tinted fronts

In canada it's illegal to have any tint on the front windows, most cops dont ticket for it, but if they're in a ticket writing mood they might. The only excuse I've heard that works is a note from the doctor saying you have require for some medical reason. A friend of mine who had skin cancer got off with a doctors note.
