Okay people, let's get something straight right here, right now:

NO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAN MODIFY (MECHANICAL) GEAR RATIOS ON PRODUCTION CARS! If you car has to be at 3500 RPM top be doing 60 Mph, it will always do that... unless you physically take out your 5th gear and change it for a smaller one.

Now I feel better...

I was skeptical about grounding wires, but for giggles I went ahead and tried it.
PLEASE- Do not take this against me because this is what I have noticed. I will SAFELY take a picture of my tachs and will once and for all show that at approximately 60 mph my rpm is at about 2700 RPM. You are on your own to whether to believe me or not. No offense taken.

60 MPH = 2700 RPM
65 MPH = 3000 RPM
70 MPH = 3300 RPM
80 MPH = 3600 RPM

*This is a rough estimate, I will turn my camcorder on and record my speed between 50 and 80 MPH and will give you the exact readings. The kit I just bought was off of ebay. NIB kit for about 32 bucks.

Attached is a picture of the kit. If you notice in the picture, there are only 3 connections to the main negative post. I will also post pictures of how I connected the wires.

Jeddi, the rpm range's vs. speed your listing doesn't tell us ANYTHING man. At least mention what gear your in...and what you think the rpm was without the system. BUT seriously...think about it....all the grounding kit has done for you (even manufactures will tell you this) is just SMOOTH the idle and probably add some throttle response and maybe give your stereo some more juice. It is physically impossible for it to alter gear ratio's.

Joe, from what company? I've gotten quotes for the HKS Circle Earth system for $249 and the Apex'i system for $350.

Just a thought, maybe its changing how the sensor is reading engine RPM. Its not a mechanical tach, is it? It might be altering the input signal to the tach somehow....

Hey Joe, for the money, I would probably go for the HKS one or the Apex'i...from the looks of it the both have more ground points (however, I don't know if they are all needed??).

PDX - I doubt it would change the readout...unless there is some sort of signal interference causing it to be read wrong.

I don't know ANYTHING about grounding kits - never heard of 'em before this - but this is what is claimed on a package of grounding wires:
UNIVERSAL FIT FOR ALL CAR

HELP PREVENT POWER LOSS AND ENSURE TOP PERFORMANCE OF IGNITION AND OTHER COMPONENTS

LOWER ELECTRIC RESISTANCE AND INCREASE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

STABILIZES THE ENGINE AT HIGH RPM'S

GAIN INSTANT HORSEPOWER 5-8HP

Grounding Wires Diagram for Ralliart

I will soon take pictures of the grounding points as soon as when it cools down outside (100+ today). Maybe tomorrow after getting off of work.

Well this is the diagram of the groundings.
