Ignition timing

Just wondering if anyone has experienced any hp gains from advancing the timing? I'm not even sure what the stock timing is set at, I'm sure its on a sticker on the underneath side of the hood somewhere.
Just wanting to see if anyone has messed with this and if there are any dyno proven results.

You'd need a standalone or ITC, I don't beleive any OBD-II cars have adjustable base timing

sure you can, I've done it in my 96 se-r, you just disconnect your tps, adjust your distributor and check it with a timing light.

BTW its looks like the stock timing is set at 5° BTDC

Hmmm we don't run distributors... but if you have a 2 peice crank/cam angle sensor I think you're unadjustable. I'll poke around under the hood tomorrow

Isn't the whole point of MIVEC to advance the timing when it matters?

that's computer controlled timing advance though, base timing is set via the position of the crank angle sensor trigger to the TDC trigger point on the crank pulley.

I never looked around for whether we have a one or two peice Cam/Crank angle sensor. I'll let you know next year when I do the timing belt
