215/45/17's don't fit my car! :(

Well. I got rims today. sense I was in a small accident it won't fit in my left wheel well. I have a slight ding in the dog leg and it brought the inner lip in the fender down slightly and it jsut destroyed the tire. I told them about the problem and told them I was worried about fitment on that side. guy said it was ok. so I guess he's paying for that tire thats all tore up. wonder who's paying for the paint the tire took off

heres my question. what does "rolling" a fender consist of? Is that folding that lip on the inside up so you have that little extra room to work with? sense the fenders destroyed I think Im gonig to you wack away at it cuz that whole side still ned repainted and the dent still taken out.

That'll work right?

slow down when u are typing. Let me get thus straight, u ordered your rims and tires, and you where in an accident before you bought the rims, right? And your fender tore your tire up because it was too low? You didnt look at the fender to see if there was gonna be clearance before you went driving? Im just trying to figure out what what happened.

And yes when you roll your fenders it slightly bends the inside of your wheel well to provide you clearance when you go over bumps. That is my understanding of it. I do not think that it moves the lip of your fender out at all. My friend had it done on his rx8 and I dont think it is anything that you can see, just the inside.

it was hit in a parkinglot a month ago. the tire shop said it wouldn't matter that there was enough clearance. I think im taking it back to the shop and just telling them to wack the **** outta that lip It needs repainted anyway. its all good.

Depending on your offset, 205/45's are prob the best way to go.

i'm running 225/45/17's on my car, and i had to roll my rear wheel wells basically flat, but it works fine, my car looks like i can run anything over and with my body damage the car looks like it went off roading but yea. Hammer that stuff out, i don't think that you need to roll the fenders unless you're running something like my setup... I'm also still rubbing a little when i hit a big enough bump, the stupid tab where the rear bumper attaches to the quarter panel... When it gets warmer out i'ma work on relocating those tabs or making another connection point or making it smaller somehow...

yea you gotta put a heat gun to the painted area you're going to roll before you start to roll them... even still a little paint comes off, i don't care anymore, hopefully this summer the car gets repainted from all the scratches and stuff on it.

haha.. wonderful.. I called a custom body shop and they told me they have never rolled a fender? I remember last week when they order **** from me they told me they were known for their body work?! the guy couldn't tell me how to roll my fender or didn't even want to do it for me.

Doesn't matter now I got 205 40's for it

I rolled my rear wheels as well WAY back in the day (july ) to fit 225/45/17s. I had access to an actual fender rolling machine though. You need LOTS of heat to not crack the paint.
I'm not sure you could roll the front fenders without removing the splash shielding.

yea i rolled my fenders with my friend who owns the shop i went to, he just took a heat gun to it, the paint cracked a little but i didn't care, i gotta get a new paint job either way.

But yea 95TsiAWD, do you ever hit the little mount where the rear bumper screws to the quarterpanel??

yeh they hit a bit so I went to OZ Rally rear springs, gave me almost an extra inch of ride height in the back. I looked at removing or bending those tabs out of the way but it didn't look to be something that would easily be done or get the proper clearance with such wide tires.
