Make sure if you use a spacer there will still be enough lug stud to get the proper amount of turn on the lugs. If not, they wont tighten down enough. For a 12x1.5mm stud like the Ralliart has, you need at least 6.5 full turns on the lugs to secure the wheel properly. You can read more about this at Wheel Lug Nut Torquing

Huuuum....sorry my man, but M12 x 1.5 doesn't exist.... otherwise Mitsubishi engineers developped a new thread size...!!!

The thread size would be M12 x 1.25 (Fine threads) or M12 x 1.75 (Coarse threads)....

EDIT: Dhoooooop.....M12 x 1.5 is the right thread size for studs on our RA.....sorry....

and based on theory, the right amount of thread required to be safe when torquing "bolting", is 3 complete revolutions of the nuts around the threaded stud, minimally. So, when you put your nut, you must engage a minimum of 3 threads, because there's only 3 threads that apply force....(again, based on theory).

According to the pick, 6 mm (1/4") spacers is enough, because if the wheel were rotating but just hitting the caliper casting "gently", the clearance required must be minimal. But because of the fact that RA are using "floating" caliper (1 piston), a safe clearance of approx. 1/4" is good for your application. If you look carefully (measure) the distance between the stock 16" wheel and the caliper cast, it's around 1/4", which is "safe"...

Good luck.....

I'm pretty certain that 12x1.5 is what I bought last time I needed lug nuts for a Mitsubishi.

PLP_lanral05 seems like you have it nailed down N12X1.5 with a 21mm head is what the Ralliart uses for hardware. McGard (leader in the hardware industry) also lists this as the correct hardware spec. I would be very concerned driving around with only three turns on a lug nut.

To Myszkewicz and Neal@tirerack: You are perfectly right.....I made a mistake....I was convinced that Mitsubishi were using standard thread size for bolting wheels, which is not the case at all......sorry for the confusion: M12 x 1.5 mm is the right thread size.....(previous post edited.... )

I just bought tuner nuts for my summer wheels....and realized that.....hahaha

Again, sorry for the confusion....

I would be very concerned driving around with only three turns on a lug nut.
Same thing here, but it's all related to theory, not practice....
