17x7 HFP Wheels with 45 Offset... Tires?

I work at a Honda Dealership in town here... Every so often we are forced to buy accessories for new models, and we have a set of 17x7 HFP Wheels with a 45 offset... I can get them at a really really good price... Made by Enkei... 19 Lbs a piece...

I currently run Tein S-Tech springs on stock wheels with a 215/50/16 Kumho Ecsta 712 Tire... I get a little tire scrub on the inner fender liner in the front right now at full lock, but no other problems...

I want to run a 225 tire if I can... Im not afraid to roll the fenders if needed... What size tires would you guys run with a 45 Offset on a 17x7 wheel...

And yes, I will be getting rid of the Honda logo on the wheels and centercaps... They do look like they will be nice on my Silver RA though...

225 might be a little too wide for a 7" rim.

I'd just go for a 215/40 and be done with it.

I keep reading that, but its a whole inch wider than stock... Why can't we get a 20mm wider tire on an inch wider wheel?

I guess I'm spoiled running a 215 on the stock wheels because I love the extra footprint... Damn a 225 would be good though... So how do the numbers look?

Stock wheel
16x6
46 offset

17x7
45 offset

So I am moving the wheels inner edge 1mm closer to the struts over stock, and gaining an inch of wheel closer to the outer fender... Is that correct? The offset only applies to the inside of the wheel mounting flange to the inside lip if I'm correct...

Good calculators on this site: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

That is the offset calculator. There is also a tire calculator on there if you go to the tech section.

I think that is sticky worthy. Been asked on more than one occasion.

Ok now I understand better the offset numbers... It is offset from center, not from the back of the wheel completely... In my off-road wheels we measure Backspacing from the mounting flange the the inner edge of the wheel... I guess I was kinda thrown by that... So Im looking at 11-12mm less clearance on the inside and pushing the wheel out 13-14mm more on the outside on a 7" wheel... All compared to a stock 6" RA wheel...

Glad that helps. Remember 26mm = about 1 inch
My rims are 17x7 with a 42 offset.....work perfectly. I run 215/40's on them.

hey, what do you think about a rim 17x7 +40 offset

would this work on my car? would this rims rub or give me some problems?
what tire should i use?

my car its lowered like 2" (F=1.9" , R=1.7 something like this)

You should have made your own thread, not jacked this one......but since you are new.......

How are you dropped almost 2" in the front without any rubbing issues?
A 40 offset lowered that much I would be very concerned with outer fender rub. Mine are 42, and they have a squeezed pinky finger space between the tire and fender (I measured this at like 6mm ). 40 pushes the rim out 2mm more than mine.
You may need to roll the fenders with a 40 offset.
