+2 on the BFG KDW-2's...excellent tires all the way around , and DAN next time check them out at tire rack ,I ordered mine one morning before work (8am)and I got them around 2pm the next day, they came from Georgia to South Florida very fast .....

I paid $130 per tire, plus whatever extra for the 100% replacement warranty, but that's for the stock size. 17" will cost a bit more.

I use T1S as my rear tires for auto x... not bad but they need more pressure, I have Azenis RT-615 in front and I think I'll get 2 for the back too... but all B/O for 3 weeks everywhere in Canada

And 215/40/17 is probably the way to go or 205/45/17 if you want to have more fun cornering (don't want to roll on the wheels) your call !

I can't get the kdw's to roll at all, even when trying, and I am running 34psi on the street. I doubt they will roll on the track, Bert never mentioned that being a problem. $690 installed on the car with free replacements.

Tire racks prices are reasonable, but it would have been about the same cost if I had them shipped in from tire rack.

Okay fellas, I got the rubber!

I settled for Toyo Proxes T1-R. So far so awesome, have to let them break in though! It's still a virgin to dry roads because at the moment its pouring rain!

If handling was so good in the rain, I can't wait to see what it would be able to do in the dry!

Yeah, buying from Tire Rack is tricky. Prices are definitely cheaper at first, but once you figure in shipping and cost of installation (which is usually included from any decent tire store) their prices end up about the same as everyone else.

I'm not sure there will ever be a point in my life where I can justify the cost of my own tire mounting equipment. If going cheap, you can figure $1,200 for a tire changer, and $1k for the balancer.

yep, but you will always need tires. well, at least until we start using transporters instead

Actually, the first number isnt exactly the tread width but the overall width from sidewall to sidewall. In our case, since we have low sidewalls, the overall width might be the same as the tread width, but if we were to use a tall sidewall tire like a 175/65-14 (thank god we dont ), the sidewall would be (depending on the manufacturer) wider than the tread.
