Noob terminology questions

Alright guys, so i've looked at the faq and all that, but i'm just having issues with all the terminology goin on

Alright, so what exactly is the offset? I just read the thread with you guys explaining the offset but it seems that the higher the offset the more it sticks outside right? or is it the opposite way?

i read in a thread here that with springs we need to get alignment? what exactly is alignment?

I understand the whole wheel 16x7 17x7 dimensions, but with the tires, what exactly are the 205/50/16 mean?

what are extended studs?

thanks guys

That is dangerously close to dividing by zero.

If all the links above and stuff don't help here's a general description, offset is referred to the center of the wheel (where the lugs go so to say). Zero offset is when it is located directly center of the wheel vertically. Positive off set is when it is moved outwards (away from the car and suspension) and negative is when it is moved inwards.

Alignment mainly refers to the wheel and suspension adjustments. Toe is an angle refered to the front of the wheel point left or right, just like your toes on your feet facing each other or away. Positive toe is inwards negative is outwards. Camber is the angle of the top of the wheel being inwards or outwards. Negative camber is when the top of the wheel is leaning in and positive is when it is out! This angle changes with changing of suspension components. Caster is the angle related to the top of the suspension/wheel being towards the back or front of the car (it's harder to explain without pics)

Tire sizes are as follows 205 is 205 millimeters width, 50 is 50% of the width is the diameter of the sidewall and lastly R radius/radial 17 is the diameter of a wheel in inches.

Extended wheel studs are the studs the lugnuts mount on to but the extended ones allow you to typically run drag wheels etc.

Hope this quick review helps if you need more help PM me
