Powder coating stock rims vs Aftermarket ones
Some time ago I was looking at some aftermarket rims. At that time I was wanting something bigger and was going to pull the trigger but I have now made the decision to stick with 16's for performance and cost reasons. I don't want to bother lowering also since our rides already look lowered with 16's on.
With that said, I quite like the look of our rims powder coated. Since my ra is white I think a black wheel would look nice. Price wise, powder coating seems to come in around $400'ish for proper base coats and a clear coat. The only downside from what I've read is that some feel the temps used to bake to powder coat changes strength of Aluminum and makes it more brittle and apt to failure. Has anyone got any experience with this?
Aftermarket rims seems to really vary in quality which is why I am thinking of just powder coating. However a set would probably be under $600, more likely less, so price wise the I think, why not get after market instead.
At the end of the day, I just want black rims that won't flake, break or fail in any way. What do you guys think? Powder coating stock or after market?

Those or one of the main rims I have eyed. I really wish a set would come in under $500. I also really like rota grids.
