metra dash kit
#7
I know this post is 3 months old, but for those who are still reading, i want to give some input. I purchaced the metra dash kit on clearance at ultimate electronics and had the same problems as described, A huge saging gap in the middle of the top and hard time fitting the trim piece at the bottom. But the problem was easily resolved. I has a left over trip of 1" wide aluminum and all i did was cut out 2 squares and tape them on top of the two tabs on each side of the center hole on the dash part. still not perfect but looks 100 times better than origional. Here are some pics of my install:
First a realy to bypass the e-brake safty switch
The harness all put together
Pioneer AVH-p3200BT in the metra dash kit
The Back of the deck
Gutted

***NOW HERES THE BIG FIX*** 1" wide aluminum squares and tape
The deck is bluetooth enabled and came with a mic....i didnt want to look at a mic clipped on to my visor cause it would look like s*&%..so i put it in the ceiling. Works Flawlessly
just used 3m tape to stick it in the light housing..above the holes that are in the pop out square arround the switch
I ran it through the ceiling liner by tucking it in the front and then down the side pillar and into the dash. I used a wire coat hanger to fish it through the tricky spots
And the finished product. Sorry I dont have any pics of the gap beforehand, but there are plenty of pics on this forum, it was hidious to say the least, but i have no complaints now.
So overall the kit for the $10 dollars i paid was well worth it for my, and to be honest I like the way it looks and feels much better than the jdm. It pushes the radio out further into the car which seems oto give the lancers bland dash a little more dimension. The reciever itself is excellent. It has a handfull of useful features and the sound this thing cranks out is amazing, even on the factory 4 speaker system (soon to be upgraded as well). If you guys have any questions just send me a message and illl be glad to respond. ENJOY
