What do you all think of the 2009 Lancer Ralliart?

I'd like to hear some venting of feelings about the 2009 Lancer Ralliart. I have mixed feelings of it for sure considering the edmunds road test makes me kind of sick to tell you the truth.

Edmunds:

0-60mph in 6.6 seconds (2009 WRX tested at 5.2 seconds)

Braking 60-0mph 128ft (they blame it on the tires? Can tires make that much of a difference?)

1/4 mile in 14.8 (So your car gets tromped by Accords, Camry's and Altimas?)

Skid pad 0.81g? (People say the 03-05 SRT-4 handles like crap yet it is tested at .85g in 200ft skid pad and worse than the Lancer GTS and the same as a 2008 Honda Civic LX)

Slalom@ 65mph?!

but worst of all, the stuff that ISN'T included such as Recaro seats, HID's and all that pushing the price tag to easily over $30,000.00. They start at $27,000... seats are $1,700... If this car CAME with them at its price I think it'd be pretty intriguing however you are NOT saving much money and getting a MUCH weaker performer than an EVO X GSR. The C/D observed gas mileage was 16 MPG! People get better than that in EVO VIII and EVO IX! S4's, hell a Corvette still gets 20+mpg city

NOT impressed, lets discuss.

Just like all these other threads, it's mostly speculation and it depends on how much faith you put in pre-release performance tests.

Car & Driver and Motortrend have both put the Ralliart at 0-60 anywhere from in 5.4-5.6, with 1/4 in the 14.2-14.4 range.

For the record:
V6 Accord runs 0-60 in 7.1, 1/4 in 15.5
V6 Camry does 0-60 in 6.9
Altima does 0-60 in 6.6

As for the skipad and slalom, the EVO runs it at 70 mph stock...the Ralliart at 65, this seems in-line and doesn't surprise me. Tires DO make a different in braking and handling obviously, and the 215s on the Ralliart vs. 245s on the EVO probably don't help (aside from the suspension changes).

Basically I guess it comes down to what peoples expectations are...if Honda or Toyota made any decent AWD cars then maybe I'd look elsewhere, but that feature alone will still put me in a Ralliart over their cars. The WRX is really the only car I would worry about comparing it to, and for me the styling is the main issue there. Choosing between Subaru's new "Corolla S" sedan and their rollerskate hatchback, I'll take a Ralliart.

Just so you know, Car and Driver power-braked the car to get those numbers. Inadvisable.

Regardless...

DO WANT.

Oh I figured they worked it pretty hard, especially without the launch control from the EVO. I just think Edmunds is on the opposite end of the spectrum with their conservative numbers all the time (not just for the Ralliart). It's good to get multiple perspectives though

yeah power braking is how you would use it anyway if you were going to launch

i dunno where you got those numbers from, but V6 accords have been low to mid 14 second cars for a while now, and the V6 6speed coupe has been known to break 13's (rare, but possible) stock. 0-60 5.9 1/4 mile in 14.5 as tested by road and track, autospies pulled a 14.6 with one, and i saw a guy on a honda forum that did 14.2.

altima V6 has been tested to do 0-60 in 5.7 1/4 mile in 14.2 tested by road and track, and the camry can also go 0-60 in 5.7 seconds. what's sad is these cars can not only toast the ralliart, but can almost keep up with the EVO in a str8 line. from a roll, they might win...that's sad.

You are wrong.

2008 Honda Accord Coupe (V6) 0-60mph in 5.9 sec
2008 Toyota Camry XLE 0-60mph in 6.1 sec
2008 Nissan Altima Coupe 0-60mph 5.9 sec

I just do not really see anything special about a $30,000 car with these numbers (Ralliart) I think that for once a car should include all the goodies for a flat rate. This isn't selfish considering many used to. If this car had a price tag of say $27,000 new and came with HID's AND Recaros then I would be all over it. However it does not offer that.

2008 EVO X GSR MSRP: $31883 (basic model, however still includes the recaros and xenons because it's an EVO)

2009 Ralliart w/ Recaros/HID's is just a hair below $30,000

there are dealerships selling EVO GSR's for 28k right now, and SSS package GSR's for 30k...why would anybody spend anywhere near 27k on a ralliart?

just google it. road and track tested all three cars. that's where the times came from. i'm sorry if a car with 268hp and 248lb-ft of torque with a 6 speed manual only weighing in at about 3300lbs running 5.7 to 60 and the 1/4 in low 14's seems far fetched to you. last time i checked, that was about right.
