ECU Flash/ Cobb

Does anyone know if there is anything available or possibly available in the near future like the COBB Accessport for the EVO X? (http://cobbtuning.com/products/?id=3942)

A custom tune is better than the Accessport anyways, we've had a few guys get rid of their accessport in favour of a simple ECUflash.

Yeah i e-mailed COBB directly so I will see what they say when the answer me. I know that a basic ECU flash is better but the ease of use of the AP seems intriguing. From what i understand it does essentially flash the ECU but only to pre-designed maps?

Yes and it's those predesigned maps that are the problem.

I emailed Cobb directly and they told me it is in development and that they need a RA to come in to the shop.

Anyone near Plano, Tx or Salt lake city should give them a call, and get their car over to them.

Why is that a problem when you can get a custom map made?

If you're going to get a custom tune, why spend money on all those pre-made maps in the first place then? You might as well just get an ECUflash, ECUtek, etc. The Accessport is great for people who don't have access to a good tuner.

I gotcha, so it's not necessarily a limitation of the AP vs. other products?

No, you can use the Accessport and get a custom tune, there was a time when Cobb essentially sealed the maps but I believe now you can customize them as you see fit. The only problem is cost, you're paying ~800$ for the Accessport and another 100-400$ for a custom tune. For that cost, you can skip the middle man and get a custom ECUtek tune or something like that.
