new problem...

ok... so i noticed the other day driving home, everytime i turn there is a loud clunk noise that i can actually feel too. I have no idea what it is or if its from the new swaybars / springs. I don't want to take it to mitsu because i will end up paying big because even if it isn't from the springs / swaybars i know they will blame it on them. so anyone have any input?

also, after i cut hard to the left and recenter the steering wheel it wants to go left, and same with when i cut hard to the right it wants to go right...

also, i have to loosen my downpipe to rotate it because my testpipe is hitting on a bolt or something under there and its annoying as hell.

oh and my car only has 3k miles on it so far... this blows

I've actually heard that clunking too, but I also realized that it only happens when it's been sitting for a while and i first start driving, goes away. Although you make it seem louder than mine so idk. My only thing is that after i'm driving a while and i go from park to reverse it seems to take a second than literally DROP into reverse. That second im rolling, feels like i am driving an actual manual, has anyone else experience that? But then again i'm a delivery driver so im constantly switching around (i feel awful for the car) so it takes a beating.

its the twin clutch.. remember ones working on even gears the other on odd (and one of the two takes responsibility for reverse lol) but its the same thing coing out of park.. it takes a second for it to start moving

Which as a side note, my car is testament to the durability of this transmission. If it takes this kind of beating, it can take nearly anything (knocking on wood).

you got different wheels on it? my 07 pontiac that i used to have used to do this (i had some 19 inch crome on a car that i should have just put 17's on lmao i was young) .. my alignment i thought was messed up but it turns out it just depended on which way i just turned.. due to my rims

+1.. i try to b nice to it.. but i just always seem to end up in sport using the paddles to redline "racing" every car i see (and by "racing" i mean on the highway.. hey look a car.. lets pass it.. hey look another car.. lets pass it.. and again and again lol)

nah just the stock rims and tires on there... its not the rim or tire hitting anything... its something else. i did a little research but all i came up with was a possible c-v joint failure. but i dont see how that could happen after only 3k miles. I don't see where the swaybars are hitting anything or where the springs are affecting anything either... I think i do need an alignment or something though, because of the steering thing... i got one done when i had my stuff installed, but maybe something didnt get tightened. thats the only thing i can see causing the car to want to go the way i previously turned.

i know exactly what it is and its not the twin clutch.

When you got your springs installed they dissasembled the shock, bushing and top plate. The bushing wasnt centered when they re assembled the tower and now you have metal on metal rubbing. The bushing is a plastic ring and is very hard to keep centered when reinstalling. I had the same problem when I had springs installed on my 08 lancer. At this point the bushing is probably crushed and deformed and will need to be replaced. Its a $10 part.

It makes a clear pop noise when turning the wheel from full left to full right and will continue to get worse until it makes noise all the time.

As a note, I switched to coilovers cause basically between that and inside tire wear the springs are just not worth it. If you are going to go springs be sure to watch carefully if someone else installs them and use a camber kit and do not cut the bump stops unless you absolutely have to or you will smack the living *$%^# out of your shocks.

could be it... its only when i turn right... and i dont have to fully turn either just a little bit sometimes and it happens... i'll look into it more tomorrow... if i can't figure it out i'll take it somewhere and have someone look at it.

I was hoping they were installed right, the whole deal wasnt cheap. but i thought i had the best person doing them. maybe he was in a hurry? hopefully it is what you said, and it is cheap, because i can't afford anything more.
