GPS question

Quick question to those that got the GPS package:

I haven't had time to read the manual yet, but i noticed the DVD player doesn't work while you're driving.

Any quick way to override/mod this? I hope to use that function for road trips.

P.S. went for my first ride after nearly a month of delays on my RA. Amazing!

Dont have GPS so i wouldnt know. But on others cars I know its not easy to override something like that. Its for your safety! Check the manual (I would but theres a seperate manual for the system)

Most of these newer systems have a wire that "reads" the gearshift lever to see if it's in park or not. The position of the gearshift will allow/disable the DVD playing.

Try it: Play a DVD with the car on but in Park. Shift to neutral/drive/reverse, and the video should stop playing. If that's the case, it's a matter of finding a wire in the back of the radio that gets grounded when the gearshift is in park, and tying it in with the black (Radio -) wire.

Currently there is no mod to allow the DVD to play while moving. The older lancers have a mod available, but at the moment, no one has cracked the 2009 MMCS.

Its not just a wire...the MMCS communicates directly on the CAN. So it is capable of seeing and controlling a lot more than just if your car is in park. Cutting this wire will effectively FUBAR your system.

O I C, that is needlessly complicated for something as simple as "don't play DVDs when moving".

You can downlaod a file, burn it to a disc and run it through the DVD player and it will unlock to play while driving. I did it in my lancer. Ill PM if I can find the file, otherwise, look around, its out there.

Last I heard, the mod DVD was for the 2008 model Lancer/Evo X. Our 09RA's have a different software version, so this mod WILL NOT work with our MMCS Systems.

Here's the thread about the 08 nav systems WITH the mod DVD file.
