Hey guys, I'm new to the community and hope to be a regular soon.
I'm graduating this year and am using the money I've accumulated over the years to purchase my first vehicle. I've looked at many cars (such as the 350z, infiniti g35, etc) and come to the conclusion that a 4 door car would be the only type of vehicle within my price range. This is due to the high insurance for my age. Two days ago I was shopping around at different dealerships and came across the Ralliart (I had previous knowledge of the Evo, but not the RA) and I believe it would be a nice fit for me. I'm just wondering what you guys think of the RA as a first car, and how it stacks up compared to other high end vehicles such as the Mustang, 350z, g35, etc.
I'm also open to any ideas / suggestions that I can do to make myself more familiar with everything.
Thanks in advance!

Looking back at the original post, we can get back to the question at hand: How does the car stack up against those listed?
Mustang: Nothing less than a V8 will do. IMO, they're also some of the BEST sounding motors out there when coupled with a nice exhaust. The styling is OK, but it's almost played out to me (including the 2010). Solid axle is a bit archaic, but ford supposedly did a pretty good job, especially for the new model. Make sure you get the track package which is like $1,500 american - which is supposedly ford's cost. I still doubt it will do as good as independent suspension on bad roads. Snow tires for the winter are a must if you'll be driving in the snow. If you're considering this car, don't overlook the Hyundai Genesis coupe. It's a similar vehicle, but has rear seats, and is cheaper. Base model is a turbo 4-cylinder, and the other model is a V6. While you're at it, check out the new Camaro - it's also built in canada.
350Z: If you're looking at new cars, then it will be the 370Z instead. I think they look great. Reviews on performance have been good overall. Handling is probably better than all the cars in your list. However, it's only a 2 seater. Again, snow tires.
G35: The new model is the G37. They look great IMO, and have the most luxurious interior. They also have rear seats, but the performance will be slightly down on the 370Z - I said it was luxury. They're cheap compared to other cars in it's class, but they're still over $30k american.
Lancer RalliArt: Looks aggressive. Front, center, and rear differentials are from an Evo IX. Gearbox is from an Evo X MR (except for different 5th and 6th gear ratio). As far as we know, the engine is the same as the Evo X's except for turbo. Interior resembles that of an Evo X MR over a standard lancer. But it's not an evo. The only other car that *I* would consider a competitor (meaning no MS3, GTI, colbalt SS, etc) is the WRX. The '09 subarus are slightly faster all around than the ralliarts. But I honestly believe the ralliart is a better starting point for future mods. Also, compared to all the other cars listed, it is the only one offered with a twin clutch gearbox - and a damn good one at that.
Just because I omitted the Mazdaspeed3, golf GTI, cobalt SS from the list above doesn't mean you shouldn't try them out. If you're spending your hard earned money, make sure you test them all to see what you like the most. What about a Mazda RX-8, a BMW 1-series, a mini cooper/clubman S, Audi A3?

i would have to agree with some of you who said a slower car might be the way to go for a 1st vehicle. my first was a woody station wagon, V8. huge engine, but no speed. gotta learn how to be safe on the road first and foremost. a turbo might be too much to start on, but if you are responsible...GO FOR IT. just dont forget about the price of insurance.
