Oil and filter change
I was readying the maintenance manual and it doesn't say to change the filter every time...
Do you guys change the oil filter every time you change your oil??
Also at what mileage do you guys usually do an oil change??

YES, you have to change the filter with the oil or your going to be pissing in the wind. I change every 5-6k. I use AMSOIL synthetic and AMSOIL filter number EA046. Since I started with the Amsoil from Mobil 1, I have noticed a big difference in the smoothness of the engine, especially cold start and warm up, the car just runs better as a whole. Amsoil guarantees that you can go 15k miles on one oil change if you have a turbo/supercharger. I am sure it will last, but I like to keep it real fresh as far as oil goes.

Mitsubishi wouldn't put it in the maintenance schedule if it was going to destroy the engine. However, most (including me) change the filter every oil change just because it's cheap and you're already under there.
For normal conditions (no tracking, etc...) just change the oil and filter every 5000 miles with a quality synthetic and you'll be more than fine.

I change oil and filter every 7500 miles. I use Mobil 1. Advanced Auto or Autozone usually run an oil change special for 5 qts of Mobil 1 plus a Mobil one filter for $30.

Yeah I bought some mobil 1 from advanced auto.
When I changed my oil last time which was at about 6500 miles they said that the oil was black... I never push it real hard and never track it or drag. It was my 2nd oil change, the first one was at 3000 miles. Wonder what made the oil black...

I do my oil changes every 8000km(5000miles) as per the Mits "Regular Service" schedule. I change the filter everytime since I'm down there already and it brings me peace of mind. I use Mobil 1 oil and K&N oil filter. I don't think I have very big hands but I could barely get a hand on the oem filter the 1st time I changed it. The nut welded on the end of the K&N sure makes it alot less of a hassle.
