Buying a *New* 2009 Ralliart

So I've been looking for a new car for a few months, and need an AWD car since I go to school in Utah. My price range is about 19k-23k(OTD), which I thought left me out of the price range for a Ralliart unless I found a really good deal. After giving up on my goal of getting a Ralliart, I started to look at Impreza's(just the standard model) and was about to accept a less performance oriented car in exchange for AWD, safety, and reliability.

That was until today when I found a "new" 2009 Ralliart on a lot for only 23k(and still in negotiations). A couple of problems I have with it are that there are 118 miles on it, I assume from test drives, and the fact that it's been on the lot for such a long time. Are there any issues with buying a 2009 this far into 2010? Should I be worried about the 118 miles? And is 21-22k a fair price for a situation like this?

Other than that I'm excited as hell at the prospect of having my own brand new Ralliart(coming from a hand me down 1997 Nissan Maxima)

I paid less for a brand new 2009 TB RA in 2009 with a grand total of 20 or so miles on it. That isn't unreasonable, and I wouldn't sweat the miles. That is really nothing. I would push for closer to 20k, though. I think that I finally got it down to around that. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

what options if any does it have?

118 miles isnt an issue, the warranty doesnt start till you sign the paper work, so any issue that might pop up you still have the full warranty period.

The only issue with buy 2009 in 2010 is the year of and lost value. but in reality, we all feel it, and probably owe more then what they are asking.

I'm not sure if it has many options on it, if any.

Yeah, totally understand that. However, it's the only way I think I can get one in my price range.

I'm wondering if I should aim for 20k out the door? 21k OTD would be ok for sure, but if I could realistically get them lower than that I would. I thought 21-22k was cheap enough considering the car is like 23-24k invoice, right?

20k OTD? Or 20k+fees and taxes?

Look man, that car has been on that lot for over a year and a half. They probably want to sell that car more than any other car on that lot to make way for more/newer inventory. That car has been costing the dealership money, everyday that they dont sell it. Use that to your advantage. I think 21k out the door is a good settling price, depending on the options. If you know how to haggle with these dealers, you can get yourself a great price. Thats a great find. Finding a car thats been on the lot that long gives you a TON of bargaining power. Dont be afraid to tell them that you know that the car has been there a year and a half, give them a "take it or leave it" type attitude. Good luck!

By the way, the invoice price is $26,xxx. Also, like others have said, don't worry about the 118 miles on the car. 22k for the car is a great price. You should go for it.

As stated above, I wouldn't sweat the 118 miles or the fact that it is a 2009 vs 2010. My RA had 210 miles when I drove it home, plus $22K is a steal compared to what I paid for my RA. On top of that, I know my car sat on the lot for a long time due to the huge wasp nest that I found in the passenger mirror housing.

Only thing that I would recommend is make sure that all of the Recalls and TSB's are done and up-to-date prior to taking ownership.

BTW, what dealership is this at?

Yeah i agree, the one guy claiming he paid 20k otd brand new is the only wrinkle in the op's mind right now. I personally dont believe it. And if he had something was messed up either in the car or the dealers head.
