Trying to get a greal deal for an RA
#31
the auto is one thing but.. the lancer de has that too.. the point i'm trying to make is, is it really necessary to have a RA when youre driving to work? no. you can't really track an RA either, i feel that it is overpriced as been stated in this thread, along with it's depreciation. also, the guys throwing thousands of dollars into their RA might as well just step up and get an EVO. i'm not trying to start an argument or anything here. I just feel that the RA is inadequate for the price being paid. it looks exactly like a $16,000 lancer. I know suby stepped up in 2011 with their wrx, while the RA is still stuck in limbo. but in the end guys, it's all personal preference. enjoy the car you drive! also, don't you hate it u when your friends go "nice evo man!!!!!" and you gotta say.. "it's a lancer." hahahaa

Your other points are close, guessing that the detuned Evo idea sparked the most interest. Instead of expanding the market by introducing a real detuned Evo, a car that shares more than just the motor, it instead decided to throw bargain parts on the motor while mainly keeping the rest a spirited Lancer GTS.
After spending and getting a Ralliart as fast as a stock-Evo, they aren't even scratching the surface as to what the Evo has represented-a true sport car in relatively inexpensive sport-compact.
As far as I am concerned the Ralliart will always be an execeptional alternative to a WRX, if your willing to understand that the roots of the WRX bears more resemblence to the STI than the Ralliart does to the Evolution. And in 2011, the similarties will only make the WRX even more desirable.

right on the money. until mitsubishi steps up their game the ralliart will be nothing more than a turboed awd lancer.
maybe mitsubishi should take some from subaru and slap an evo x turbo on the ralliart, put a 5 speed transmission and tune the ralliart for slightly better fuel economy and power that can compete with the new wrx.

this thread is a bunch of fail biased banter.
Buy the car and enjoy it. The nerd with the Evo 9 needs to crawl back to his board where his opinions might matter.
The ralliart bridges the gap between the lancer and the evo, simply put. They did a very good job not allowing more of the evolution components onto the car, as to keep the validity and legend of the evolution its 100%
get a ****ing brain people.

no i was making a remark that i forfeited the chance to have an evo so that i can have other stuff and still be able to afford the different recreational activities i enjoy.
i put the hood for looks and the seats for comfort and now i have a car that i am 100% comfortable with.
its kind of hard to have our discussion since your in canada and up there its obviously better to have an RA spend a couple hundred dollars and have a car as fast as a base gsr...
i guess it comes down to everyones individual situations.
also ******* 3 bedroom home for 400k...lol in san antonio , tx 400k would buy you a HUGE house...lol my parents house was roughly 275k and they have a huge house pool , 5 bed rooms 4 bath.

But as some people already mentionned, RA vs Base Lancer, the AWD is very useful during winter here. And the Evo is not very comfortable on our roads... That is why I took the Ralliart, initially I was hesitating between a BMW 135i and an EVO which both sells about the same price here. And I went for the Ralliart because it was much more practical and convenient.
