I bought mine because my Talon popped it's tranny! The previous owner had a "JDM-yo" tranny in it, and I didn't know. All along I didn't know i had no power going to the rear wheels, and one day discovered I was running FWD in an AWD car. Replaced the viscous coupler, and had AWD briefly... til the center diff grenaded and I found myself at NWD (no wheel drive). I was tired of the DSM and needed a reliable replacement.

Narrowed it down to the Subaru WRX, or the Ralliart. Since I'm a Mitsu-*****, the choice was obvious. Bought my 2010 Ralliart, and haven't looked back.

Shortly thereafter, I replaced the tranny in my Talon, and she's been running great since. But my love for the Ralliart helped me sell my Talon.

I'm not sure that I speak for everyone in here, but if I wanted a "race car", I really would have purchased something else.

Seeing as your list includes "cheaper" performance cars, I'm not sure why the SRT-4 wasn't on there. You cannot buy more bang for your buck than an older SRT-4.

The SRT-4 is no longer sold in it's Neon form, Caliber is only available. It would def be on the list and yes bang for buck the Neon can't be beat.

Rolled fenders, wider tires, X turbo, etc. keeps the RA a contender, minus losing your warranty. I read just about every review of the Ralliart and it firmly sits last in every comparison including FWD that handle and have much better build quality than the Ralliart, btw have you seen the georgeous stamped steel suspension parts underneath the car?

Sure I think most of us would of picked the EVO if the price was right. This was my first sports car and I love it and think if you drive a RA or EVO then you know why you drive it rather than others and if your like me you have no regrets.

Yeah, when I was replacing my equally as impressive stock tires.

Certain things on this car do drive me nuts. Whoever decided to put chrome trim around the windows needs to find another job. The glove box is a JOKE. The floor of the trunk is so bad that it is actually amusing. The navigation system hasn't figured out what a left turn is yet (I swear to god it has told me on several occasions to make a right turn and then an immediate U-turn...WTF?). Oh, and I have had at least three people on three separate occasions ask me where I bought my hood from.

That being said, this car has some very good points. The turning radius is pretty good, considering that it is a Mitsubishi. Even though the interior looks shoddy, it doesn't rattle. And...that really is all that I can think of.

Honestly, I think Mitsubishi has gone along way with the Ralliart especially compared to the last iteration, though I would love to see a OZ Rally Edition.

With the 2011 WRX sharing the same wide body as the STI, hopefully we will see a Ralliart closely resembling the Evolution. The problem really lies with the Evolution crowd not wanting a near clone of their beloved Evo. Subaru STI owners don't seem to mind, and I think Ralliart sales will increase if it kept the same single-scroll, smaller intercooler etc. but shared most of the body panels and wider wheels.

Aluminum bits maybe too expensive for its segment, but cheaper materials could be used inplace of what's available in the Evo.

All said I cannot argue the merits of both it's AWD system and for some the automatic nature of the TC-SST tranny, though a 5speed or even a 6speed would be a plus for those wanting to increase torque and horsepower values without risking damage to the costly dual clutch.

To those that argue FWD's torque steer, both Ford and Mazda have reined in most of that, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Ford's RS torque steer reduction system used in the next Speeds or in future Ford vehicles. Making FWD vehicles handle just as well as AWD cars.

What really peaks my interest is the possibility is the new Outlander Ralliart, which will rival most compact SUVs in performance and everything else.

It's a nice daily driver that gets decent gas mileage.
Both my GTO and BMW 850 got 16mpg.

The turbocharger is just enough for jetting through traffic.
Though fairly quick, my GTO was much more difficult to get through traffic. My BMW 850 was fun on the open road, but was a pig in traffic.

I couldn't carry more than 1 dog in the 850, and 2 in the GTO.

Tires are way cheaper than the GTO or 850.

It doesn't have a sunroof.

TC-SST.

Turns quicker than my other cars.

Agreed. However, I'm not going to hold my breathe.

its a great looking car, with great features that others in the same price range just cant offer.
plus almost half the price of the evo and with a few basic mods quiker in a strait line. you want a track car buy an evo, you want a realistic car to use everyday buy ralliart.

False for a few reasons:
1 cannot go around a corner to save its life
2 FWD = stupid *** hell if you want a powerful car, talk about torque steer
3 Swap some new tires on your RA and see what happens, I promise you will love it more
4 If you are a smart car buyer you can purchase a fully loaded RA for 24000 after tax and with BETTER tires
5 A single re-tune and BAM 250-270 HP easy.
6 RA looks way better, lets be honest if you are in a civic or a neon or any other piece of garbage you wish you had darker tinting so no one can see you.
7 I have yet to see a Riced out RA or EVO X, maybe this is b/c I live in Lubbock but hey there are tons of other ricer crap bangers here. Not to mention a good amount of EVOs that come in during school months.
8 itsa mitsu
9 you are only allowed to complain about how bad our dealers are and why this thing doesnt have a manual option
10 If you want a cheap evo put 5000 into your car and I promise it will be almost the same with probably more HP.

Also if you have yet to drive the speed or the RS let me tell you Ford's steer reduction system barely works.

LOL @ 250-270 HP being considered "powerful".

Easy. I sell the GTO, then buy a Ralliart. Maybe I don't understand what you are asking?

I think it's one of those "How do you sleep at night?" questions... lol.
